A Few Thoughts on the Digital Era

We have come a long way from the flickering films of movie greats such as Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton.

The ingenious transition we have seen over the decades have made the movie industry a paragon of ideals. Aspiring film makers have an increased opportunity to access a variety of techniques that were not always obtainable to the newer generations. Famous Producers and Directors started their journey with hopes and dreams that have brought them great success. The long list of movies that were created using film have paved the path for the future. Technology has cornered almost every market in our world bringing us a new perception to our once familiar reality. Living in this new age has allowed us to experience what we thought could only be imagined. Elite creative endeavors have merged with the keys to a digital land. Movies have reached new heights without any indication of coming back down.

Digital Points

Utilizing Film methods are still near and dear to our hearts. In fact, many producers and directors continue to use only film for their foundation. They have achieved magic on the screen without the use of digital upgrades. On the other side of the line, is a wave of movie makers  who have adapted to the use of digital means producing storylines brought to life that are also on our favorites list. There is a division behind the scenes between the tried and true and what is new. When you are in the audience, it is difficult to pinpoint which aspects have been digitalized and the scenes that are completed in film style.

One of the main telltale signs can be determined by the director. If you follow the movie line of their history, you will know their preferences. Legends including Christopher Nolan and Quentin Tarantino are Bona fide film fans. Older movies and newer recent hits have been made distinctly using film. It is a known fact they prefer film to the digital future. On the opposite end of the movie spectrum we have Robert Rodriguez who brought us Spy Kids 2 in digital as did James Gunn with the famed guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2.

Digital and Film

In light of the long list of movies we have grown to know and love, we continue to be amazed at the various imagery and scenery. Those who are bringing their own flair to the theater will find the ease of digital techniques to follow through from take one to the editing process. This has opened the door for many to make their movie dreams come true. In some cases, a high res digital camera can link up to differing platforms. From up close to far away shots, the digital abilities span to special effects, audio conversions and a savvy transference to movie land.

The results are in with a strong tie among the masses. There is an endless wonder to the skill levels used in Film and a firm following into the new digital era. For the rest of us, we will continue to marvel at the possibilities.
